Covid-19 news

February 22, 2021

Covid 19 has affected around 105,047,763 people globally and 2,281,763 lives have been lost due to this deadly virus. No country has been left untouched by this highly contagious virus with China, Italy, and the United States being some of the worst-hit countries. But, the Covid-19 Death rate comparisons and numbers of cases are not 100% accurate due to the lack of testing material and delays in reporting. However, the authorization of various Covid-19 vaccines and ongoing clinical trials have become a beacon of hope for humans worldwide.

Vaccine progress/Vaccine Updates

Vaccines require years of research and trials before being authorized. However, 2020 left scientists helpless as they started the journey of inventing a Covid-19 Vaccine in record time. Luckily, after running clinical trials on different versions of Covid 19 vaccines COVAX has finally announced their plan on distributing around 330 million Covid-19 vaccines to developing throughout the globe. Some of the authorized vaccines are namely, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca, etc.

How do these vaccines work?

The three vaccines mentioned above are the front runners among all the other Covid-19 vaccines which have been authorized. Moderna and Pfizer are both RNA vaccines that work quickly by triggering an immune response. These Oxford vaccines, on the other hand, is a little different as it can be stored in a fridge and doesn’t need to be stored in very cold temperatures like some of the other vaccines. The Oxford vaccines AstraZeneca works by using a harmless virus to make the immune system produce antibodies. Research shows that these three vaccines are highly effective and they could help put an end to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, for most of the vaccines, a booster dose after around 4 months of getting the first dose is required to make sure one stays protected from the virus in the long run.

When will you get the vaccine?

As the supply of the Covid-19 Vaccine is limited, only several people can get the vaccine currently. The people to get Covid-19 vaccines first are the ones who need them e.g. Medical professionals and elderly people. All states have their plans for who will get the Covid-19 vaccine first so contact your state’s health department to find out more information on when you will be vaccinated. However, large amounts of vaccines are being produced and distributed throughout the globe so sit tight, and hopefully, you will receive the Covid-19 vaccine soon.

What can you do in the meantime?

Until you can get vaccinated you have to follow all SOP’S strictly to make sure you do not contract the virus. Wear a face mask before going out and make sure to sanitize yourself frequently. Maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet is advised and it is recommended for people to avoid going to crowded places. Also, it is advised for people to not touch their eyes, nose, and mouth if they have been in public. Important note: Covid-19 has become the pandemic of misinformation as a lot of misleading and fake news about the virus and how one can protect themselves from it has been circulating the news. But, it is your job to not believe the trolls or the fabricated news online. It is our social responsibility to follow SOP’s as wearing a face mask at all times may be a little inconvenient but it is better than risking your life and the lives of the people around you. you can read also : traveling to Dubai
